Having reached the age of 21 and graduated from college, Lara Croft longs for adventure. This impulse leads her aboard the salvage ship Endurance, commanded by Captain Conrad Roth, a former marine known for his determination to evade or even break the law in order to obtain a reward. The expedition sets out in search of the lost fleet of Hubilai Khan to the islands off the coast of Japan in the Devil's Sea, considered the opposite of the Bermuda Triangle. This first big adventure was to be the most important episode in the career of the young and inexperienced Lara and a chance to change history with a world-class discovery. Before reaching shore, the ship gets caught in a storm and crashes, the storm splits the ship into two halves, separating Lara from the rest of the crew. The heroine finds herself on the mysterious island of Yamatai and instead of seeking recognition and fame, the girl faces a brutal test of strength.
